The Bairnsdale Urban Landcare group focus its activities on the Mitchell River where they manage an adopt-a-site for community members to participate in revegetation activities We are focusing the sites on the local schools to participate with replanting and tending sites for weeds etc There are 18 of these Adopt-a-sites and currently 14 of these sites are being looked after by school groups, families,and community groups.
The Bairnsdale Urban Landcare group formed in 1999 and the group covers an area 2.7 Km long and 500mts wide This area encompasses the precinct of the Mitchell River in the city of Bairnsdale.
Its principal activities occur along the Mitchell River between the Lind Bridge and the Princes Highway Bridge.
The group has a membership base of 14 families, all of which are residents of the Bairnsdale urban community.

Sections of the Mitchell River Walk are adopted bu community groups schools and local families and revegetated and maintained.
